Iqbal’s Allahabad Address 1930
Q: Explain the importance of the
Allahabad Address 1930 of Allama Iqbal.
A: Allahabad
Address is important because it gave the idea of a separate homeland for
Muslims. It clearly stated that if Muslims wanted to live with respect and
wanted their religious rights totally protected, they must have their own
homeland. It was a chance for Indian Muslims to establish their own system and
laws of their own choice. Allama Iqbal highlighted the names of Muslim majority
provinces also, which were to be joined together to form a separate homeland
for the Muslims of the Subcontinent. It was the first time when this idea
changed the direction of Muslims political struggle in the Subcontinent.
Allama
Iqbal’s address is important because it gave a new line of action to the Muslim
League. It asked Muslims to achieve and establish a complete system according
to the laws of Qur’an and Sunnah, instead of demanding just some rights. He
united Muslims under the flag of the Muslim League. Muslims were gathered at
one platform. Hopes of Muslims were increased after this and they stopped
depending upon the Hindu Leaders.
Allahabad
Address is important as Hindus were separated from Muslims. After this time,
Hindus reacted very badly and they scolded Allama Iqbal for such an idea.
Hindus declared it a dream of a poet and a theory of a philosopher but Muslims
were firm enough that if Hindus had turned against it so much, there might be a
definite benefit for them. In this manner, the idea proved as a foundation of
Pakistan Movement. That is why Allahabad Address is important.
