How successful were relations between Pakistan and Turkey during 1947-1999?
Ans: Pakistan has been respecting Turkey since long ago due to sharia government in this country. Pakistani Muslims even supported Turkey with Khilafat Movement before 1947. Turkey always honoured Pakistan support for Turkish nations and since 1947 relations remain friendly. Turkey always supported Kashmir issue, Canal water solutions. Turkey stood by Pakistan during 1965 and 1971 wars. Turkey always supported Pakistan’s nuclear program. In 1955, agreement of RCD was signed which strengthen the friendly relations by constructing a road and railway network between Pakistan and Turkey. Both of these countries are the members of SEATO, CENTO, SAARC, OIC, UNO, common wealth which helps them to collaborate at many international forums. Turkey always supported Pakistan during Afghan-Russia war 1979-1978. Turkish and Pakistani governments visited each other’s countries many times during 1988-1999 and signed many agreements related to army, air force and navy equipment and exercises exchange programs. In this way overall relations of Turkey and Pakistan have been brotherly and strong through thick and thin.
