DYARCHY REJECTED 1919
Q Why was the system of Dyarchy rejected?
Ans .- Politicians felt themselves under pressure -Insulting for the public representatives -Governors were not answerable to public they were directly connected to the viceroy. The system of Dyarchy was opposed by the Indian politicians because they felt that it was an undo pressure on them by the control government .Indians had these feeling that the British Government was forcing them to work according to the orders and wishes of the British.
Indian representatives couldn't think and work with full liberty .Governors could any time interfere in their decisions and had power to make the things according to their vision. That is why Indian rejected Dyarchy system. Indians felt insulted due to the law which provided authority to the Governors to overthrow or dismiss the public representatives anytime .Leaders of the public had to think and work for the pleasure of governors instead of satisfying their voters. They felt forced to bow before the governor instead of working for the public rights honestly.
The system reduced the authority of public .That is why everyone was annoyed by it. Governors were not elected representatives .They were not answerable to the public ,this is why they did not care about public emotions and demand .Governors were the nominated person by the viceroy for any act in the province .It gave the feeling to the public as an interference of the central government in the provisional matters which greatly displeased them and they rejected the rule of Dyarchy . Indians politicians dislike the ideas of reserved subjects in the form of the most sensitive institutions of the British .Only Indians wanted self rule ,they wanted to control all the ministries of their country themselves . Reserved subjects increase the authority of British government and there was a true that British could misuse this authority for their personal gains .Indians did not like this idea and rejected the Montagu Chelmsford reforms.
