Haji Sharitullah and faraizi movement

Haji Sharitullah and faraizi movement Haji Shariatullahs birth 1781 to 1840 ,area of birth was Faridpur, went to Saudi Arabia for hajj in 1799, death date 1840.

Haji Sharitullah started faraizi movement because Muslims of Bengal had adopted many and un Islamic practices and believes. Worst economic condition caused miserable circumstances of oppression due to Hindu land lords influence. Hindus had started affecting the religions of Muslim also and Muslim had to adopt many un Islamic practices to please their Hindu landlords to counter these cruelties of Hindu land lords Haji Shriat Ullah had to start faraizi movement. Bengali Muslims wanted to agitate against Hindu masters but they had no way out .Haji sharitullah started Fraizi movement to restore the respectable status of the Muslims. He brought them toward worshiping together and following of Islamic Faraiz regularly to make them united and stronger from inside. In this way they could get rid of Hindu Superstition. Muslims followed him became stronger and United when they followed the righteous life and religion obligations.

His believe were followed by Bengali Muslims and changed the whole scenario in Bengal he believed that Muslims community could revive only if Muslims return towards there forgotten faraiz. He emphasized on faraiz that is why his movements known as faraizi movement.

This movement gave encouragement to the Bengali Muslims who were greatly demoralized by the oppression they suffered from Hindus and British. Religious values were brought back by the realization of the importance of avoiding interest based loans. it also improved Muslims politically and economically then Bengali peasants became United against the Hindu and British operation and realized that the spirit of Jehad and brotherhood could save them from this harsh treatment. They became conscious about political rights. This conciseness further continued and Bengal was the first province which gave birth to Muslim league and emerged the idea of a separate Muslim Homeland it can be said that the seed of Pakistan movement was sown by faraizi movement.

Haji Sharitullah developed in them the sense that all the Texas imposed on them were un Islamic while paying Zakat and helping poor Muslim brothers was compulsory. All those Muslims whose lands were snatched and given to Hindu landlords by British East India Company that was also refused because Islamic law of inheritance only transfers the lands of the forefathers to their off springs. in this manner Bengalis became aware that they must not bow before British or Hindus but must develop their unity to protect them with brotherhood. Haji Shariatullah was exiled by British administration from Bengal so he went back to his native area Faridpur but he continued guiding Bengalis till his death in 1840. After his death his son Titu Mir spent his whole life as the leader of these poor farmers.
